Zotero - Web-Based Research Tools for Firefox 2.0

  ADVERTISEMENTS

zotero-smZotero is a free and open source web-based citation manager for Firefox 2.0 web browser. It is a powerful research tool that helps you gather and organize resources (whether bibliography or the full text of articles), and then lets you annotate, organize, and share the results of your research. Zotero can be used online or offline because it stores everything on your computer in a subdirectory of your Firefox profile directory.

Zotero’s main window consists of three panes. The left pane contains your library, which is a repository of every item you’ve added such as books, articles, Web pages, and notes. The middle pane displays the items in the currently selected collection. The right pane is to add or edit citation information and add notes and attachments to the item.

Zotero can recognize the citation information on many web pages, library catalogs, and online databases and upload it into your collection. When Zotero recognizes that information, it places a small icon at the end of the location bar in the Firefox browser, depending on the item type (book, article, newspaper, images, etc). Zotero automatically loads the citation information into ‘My Library’.

Download Zotero free at here. You can view Zotero demo at http://www.zotero.org/documentation/screencasts/intro

Zotero is a great idea, it helps you keep track of your bibliographical information without leaving the browser.
