Wink - People-Powered Search for MySpace, LinkedIn and Bebo

  ADVERTISEMENTS

winkbetaWink People Search searches over the user profiles of MySpace, LinkedIn and Bebo. Wink allows you to find people based on their name, username, location, interests and more. You can also narrow by network, gender, age and status. Wink has just launched its public beta. Wink also lets you create collections, grouping the best links for a topic all in one place.

According to CEO Michael Tanne, Wink is a different kind of search engine - one that searches favorite links from del.icio.us, Digg, Slashdot, Yahoo My Web and others to find pages that people have found to be interesting and useful. As more services incorporate tags and user input, new pages are added to the Wink index and ranked using our TagRank technology to deliver the best results. The more that people add favorites and tags, the better it will get.

Wink’s web search option searches Google and rank the search results according to their own People Rank algorithm. Registered Wink members can re-rank search results, bookmark and tag sites they like and block results they don’t like. Wink’s PeopleRank uses this information along with tags from Digg, del.icio.us and Yahoo MyWeb and other similar services to refine the ranking according to the input from the users.

This new people search engine is very useful for people who spend time on social networking websites. With this great feature of ‘People Search’,I’m sure Wink will become the ultimate social networking search engine.
