ADVERTISEMENTS
Weebly is an online, AJAX-based website creator focused on simplicity and ease of use. Weebly allows users to create, manage, and host their website, free of charge.
Weebly is a powerful interface for simplying the web creation process. Data-driven elements allow near-infinite customizability, and content created through Weebly can be published on any server.
Recently, Weeble added a few new features:
- completely re-designed the editing interface
- host your website at your domain for free.
- integrated SnipShot image editing so that users can edit, crop, resize and retouch images within the Weebly interface.
- added the Custom HTML element that lets you integrate items. Weebly doesn’t support yet (ie. rockyou slideshows).
- able to upload files of all types, like PDFs, Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, etc.
- revamped editing and page management interface.
- Multiple column layouts (2 column, 3 column, etc)
- New photo gallery element.
- A contact form element.
- Type in address for Google maps
- Paste in the URL for Google, YouTube videos
- 7 new themes.
You can simply create a website, add pages, then drag and drop its elements (like title, text pictures, videos, Google maps, Flickr feed, ads and more) anywhere on the page. No HTML knowledge is required. To customize these elements, double click them and choose from a simple set of drop-down options. When you are satisfied with your design, preview it, set the properties of the page and publish it live. Different themes are also available and can be interchangeable on the fly. Weebly also supports any Javascript-based elements.
This is a great tool for minimizing your time on site design to concentrate on the content. Changing the look and feel of a site is easier with Weebly than with any other site designer I’ve seen. Currently, Weebly is compatible with Internet Explorer and Firefox on Windows, Linux and Mac OS X.
You can play around with their live demo. For more information on Weebly, visit the Help page.
