VelvetPuffin, a web-based IM and social networking client I previously talked about, has changed its name to Trugo and completely redesigned its site to reflect the changing user needs. With the new name and new look, Trugo brings a higher level of customization and privacy that allows you to organize your online world your way.
Trugo is also a social networking site that allows users of all ages to communicate, create, and share personally-generated content of all types with friends and family.
New Trugo features include:
- HTML-Free Profile Changes: With a click of a button on the Trugo site, users can now personalize the look and feel of their online identity/profile. Unlike other social networking sites, users don’t have to use an HTML code to reach a heightened level of customization.
- Video Sharing: The ability to share videos from YouTube, Google Video and Metacafe gives the Trugo community the added benefit of expanded video content.
- Stamps: This unique Trugo feature allows users to put a virtual “stamp” on their friends’ profile pages. This image is a way to let individuals know people have visited their profile.
- Polling: With its polling feature Trugo users don’t have to worry about calling multiple people to get everyone to agree on social plans; all they need to do is set-up an online Trugo poll.
- Blogging: Sharing thoughts with the community is easier than ever, as the Trugo profile allows users to discuss any topic in real time.
- Photo Sharing: When photos are posted on Trugo, connected friends can view them instantly and can comment on the image.
Trugo has also announced a $100,000 college tuition contest which will award ten winners up to $30,000 in tuition funds. College students may enter the online video contest by recording a four-minutes video answering the question “Why Should Trugo Pay for Your Tuition?” In their submitted videos, students are encouraged to describe their future aspirations and why they are worthy of the first place prize of $30,000. For more info on the contest, visit http://www.trugo.com/contest.html.

VelvetPuffin is still in operation. However, they recommend that people use Trugo for a better community experience. For more information, visit the site at http://www.trugo.com.
