TOR is The Second-Generation Onion Router, distributed free under the 3-clause BSD license. Main objective of Onion Routing (OR) is to protect the privacy of the sender and recipient of a message, while also providing protection for message content as it traverses a network. Normally if you use a secure tunnel an observer can still see the destination and origin ip addresses. TOR uses a series of encrypted hops to hide this information. By routing traffic through a series of nodes, TOR makes it difficult for the receiver, observers and even other TOR routers to detect the source of traffic.
TOR also provides a feature called “Hidden Services” that allow you to run a web server and get a TOR address. TOR anonymize and hide the IP address of the actual web server.

TOR is a great idea, I personally recommend this used to improve safety and security on the Internet, don’t abuse it with hack sites, terrorist sites, and child pornography sites.
