Take off Ads from Yahoo Messenger 7.5

Yahoo mesenger adsIf you install Yahoo messenger 7.5 user, somtimes you will feel that the bottom ads on yahoo messenger 7.5 is very annoying and disturbing your visual when you chating or surfing internet.

Thanks to GoogleSystem Blog provides some tricks to get rids of the ads on Yahoo Messenger.

Open Run – >Regedit, navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ Yahoo\pager\YUrl and create a new string key named Messenger Ad that has the value * (an asterisk).

Other keys you can create to remove ads from Yahoo Messenger:

Webcam Upload Ad
Webcam Viewer Ad
Webcam Viewer Ad Big
Webcam Viewer Ad Medium
Change Room Banner
Conf Adurl
Chat Adurl
Registry of Yahoo messenger

Playing registry is a dangerous way on windows but if you are a computer geeks, perhaps this trick is worth for trying.

    Just wondering, admin – how’d you find out? Perhaps there are other messenger programs that this can be done with, and the same method you used to find where YMessenger stored its ads in the registry might help with finding the ads for, say, AIM, or MSN.

    worked fine but keeps causing cams to freeze … removing strings allowed cams to work fine again … any ideas?

    This isn’t an effective solution, the space is still there, just all white! Still waste of space if you can make it so that the field is gone it would be best thanks

    I have been playing with this idea. I never did get the * as a value, to work. I am using version 8.1.0.195 However I had some sucsess with some things. The “Change Room Banner”, worked when I made a webpage, saved it to my hard drive and put the address of the page in the value spot.(ie data value :”file://c:/ffrr/me.html”)

    Once long ago I found a progy that added this text to “Chat Adurl”.

    However, I can not use either of these methiods to get ride of the main ad with the reg key of "Messenger Ad ". in proprtion to the yahoo chat ad this is a small ad. Ne one have ne ideas?

    Also does ne one know of ne other reg keys that can be added to change stuff?
