Songbird is a a Web media player built from Firefox’s browser engine and free downloadable and an opensource application. Songbird media player has all the basic features like desktop media player which able to connect any available music (and video) on the internet and also an alternative to services like Apple’s iTunes and the Windows Media Player.

The music station that support like Last.FM, Odeo, SHOUTcast, Amazon and others.
Currently, Songbird has released “Almost 0.2″ version as public trial version for test flight. This 0.2 released has improves on the features, support media files and extension.

Like features, Songbird media player have the ability the play the movie and music files when the firefox web browser click on music and movie links. Meanwhile, the media player also give you several options such as saving the file to your library or adding it to a playlist. Very nice!

Beside that, Songbird also perform same function like Winamp which supports extensions and skins (which they call as feathers), but it is built based on Firefox. Their full-scale extension site is yet to launch. Here is simple points about songbird extension which has been link to a few people who already have working extensions:

What i can see, currently the songbird extension list still no very large list, but i believe songbird will gain more developer building extension in future.

Update : Songbird v0.2 was released a few days ago but sadly it seems that the setup file is not available at the moment.
