SoftMaker has announced a public beta of SoftMaker Office 2008 for Windows Mobile Pocket PC devices. It is a full-featured office suite that lets you open, edit, and save any Microsoft Word, Excel, or PowerPoint file on your Pocket PC. Directly and without conversion, retaining all the formatting, functions, and contents of your Office files.

It allows you to create, open, edit a file in Microsoft Office on your Pocket PC, just like what you can do with Microsoft Office on your Windows PC.

SoftMaker Office 2008 comes with:

TextMaker 2008:

TextMaker 2008 for Pocket PCs offers the full feature set and convenience of Windows word processors.

• Create PDF files directly with TextMaker optionally with font embedding and even as fillable forms
• Print directly from PlanMaker using “Jetcet Print” or directly to Bluetooth-capable PostScript printer
• save documents in the OpenDocument format
• opens password-protected Microsoft Word files
• Reads and writes numerous additional file formats – HTML, RTF, Pocket Word, ASCII, Unicode
• “Track Changes” tracks all changes made to documents and lets you accept/reject them later
• “SmartText” feature: just type e.g. “asap” and “as soon as possible” will appear (fully customizable)

PlanMaker 2008

PlanMaker is the only spreadsheet for the Pocket PC that offers the userfriendliness and capabilities of professional desktop spreadsheet packages like Microsoft Excel. A huge number of calculation functions, Excel-compatible charting, AutoShapes, drawings etc. – no other spreadsheet does that on the Pocket PC!

• Create PDF files directly with PlanMaker
• Print directly from PlanMaker – on a wide range of printers by using “Jetcet Print” or, without any additional software, directly to Bluetooth-capable PostScript printers

SoftMaker Presentations 2008

SoftMaker Presentations 2008 is the only Pocket PC application worldwide that lets you edit PowerPoint files on the Pocket PC without file conversion and without loss of quality.

All elements of PowerPoint files are preserved, among others:

• types of formatting
• slide transitions and animations
• slide designs and color schemes
• graphics, drawings, and backgrounds
• notes and comments

SoftMaker Office 2008 for Pocket PCs supports Pocket PC 2000, Pocket PC 2002, Pocket PC 2003, Pocket PC 2003 SE, Windows Mobile 5 and Windows Mobile 6. It is currently in public beta testing, you can download the free beta software here and give it a try.
