The fresh new version includes:

  • Improved support for Facebook: 8hands’ Facebook support has been drastically improved. It now includes indications about friend requests, notifications and friends’ posted items. Instead of cluttering your mailbox or miss out juicy events, let 8hands notify you in real time when something important happens on your Facebook profile.
  • Improved support for Flickr: Flickr is not just about the comments or the FlickrMail you receive. If you are like us, you use Flickr mostly to browse around your contacts photos. So we thought that it could be really cool to never again miss out on the good stuff. How will that work? 8hands will now notify you in real time when your friends post new photos to Flickr, so you can see them immediately, probably before anyone else!
  • A better scalability solution, to handle the load caused by the increasing size of our user base.
  • Memory usage is greatly reduced.
  • Lots of bug fixes and performance improvements. 8hands will now run faster and smoother, even for the “heavy duty”, super-social users.

You can download 8hands alpha version 0.8.058 free from the download page.
