MythBuntu, Another alternative for windows media center computer that really can help you record all your favorite show. MythBuntu is an open source media center that combine Linux uBuntu operating system and MythTV concept together. The installation process totally painless when setting up a standalone MythTV system with Linux OS. All you need is a PC that install with MythBuntu OS and TV card supported.

Once you finish downloading Mythbuntu and install it. If you want a fully functioning media center that can record record television shows, you’ll want to install the backend ( TV Card that support ) as well.
Here is some features that support MythTV on uBuntu (MythBuntu ):-

• An image viewer/slideshow application.

• A generic video player module, with automatic metadata lookups
• A DVD player / ripper module. Make perfect backups, or transcode down to smaller file sizes.
• An RSS news feed reader module.

Beside that, MythTV also have a list of Plugin and themes to increase the usability and functionality of the media center.MythBuntu currently still on public version and dosn’t expect everything can be run smoothly. But you can try to download Mythbuntu ISO image and burn into bootable CD. Then you can load up the front end of MythTV to work without having to reformat your own hard disk.
