Peekamo.com recently started their own send a free sms anywhere in the US or Canada. These are real sms using SMPP not SMTP. Why is that important? Because SMTP charges the receiver. SMPP is true SMS where someone has to pay, and since Peekamo pays for the message, the sender and the receiver are not. Check it out.

Mobik server is down,but java app on my phone works.You can only send messages in your country between cariers.I tried to send msgs to numbers in Germany and Usa from my Telenor network in Serbia.Nope,cant do it.

I can not be certain that Mobik is free because I have not been able to successfully send a message because there is no ad for areas I’m sending to.
However, Peekamo is free to send and receive and I don’t have to be worried about if there is an ad to suppport my message.
Mobik is so ridiculous, I have no idea why people bother with it. When I have a problem with a service, I just move along to the next one. It’s the internet people, it’s not like a cable company or a phone company (even there you have some choice).

Web-based Mobik worked for me after signing up. For only a day. Then it stopped working. In the last 2 days, it has not worked for me. The Web UI says that the SMS has been sent. But my recipient did not receive any sms at all. Are you all experiencing this problem also?

i test mobik free sms services before to reach my handphone. it take around 30 second. i think their free sms services is depending how fast their local telco respond.

You try out Callwave SMS services.. This free Sms text messaging is totally free if you’re from US or Canada… But for other country… this services only limited 5 free sms per day.
