Microsoft SharedView (Tahiti) Beta- Real Time Screen Sharing

  ADVERTISEMENTS

Microsoft SharedView, code-named “Tahiti” is now available for public download without requiring an invite. SharedView is a fast, easy way to share documents and screen views with small groups of friends or coworkers; anytime, anywhere.

SharedView is easy to install and all you need to get connected is an internet connection and a Windows Live ID. The main application runs in the system tray and places a toolbar at the top of your screen while in a session.

SharedView focused on screen sharing or groups of maximum 15 people in different locations to share what’s on their screens. The person sharing can give control to anyone else who’s also part of the screen sharing session. And each participant has a personalized mouse pointer to point out specific items or highlight an area of shared screen. SharedView also tracked changes, each change is clearly marked and identified with the name and a custom color of the user making the change.

When sharing an application, all instances of that application that you open (such as all Word documents that you open, including e-mail messages if Word is your e-mail editor) are also shared. If you do not want to share other instances, close all instances that you do not want to share.

Some important tips on using SharedView:

  1. To start a session using this program, you must sign in using a Windows Live ID (Passport ID). However, you can use any e-mail ID or even a friendly name to join a session. A friendly name is a name of your choice. This is the name that others in the session will use to identify you.
  2. If you want to start a session and do not have a Windows Live ID, you can continue installing this program. However, before signing in, you must get a new Windows Live ID.
  3. If you are already using this program, you will see an upgrade balloon in the notification bar. Clicking this balloon will redirect you to the installation site.
  4. You must have a working Internet connection to use this program.
