ADVERTISEMENTS
Magic Password Generator is a Firefox Extension to give each website a different password based on a single master password.
Using different password for each website can protects you from website administrators or hackers that use dictionary attacks to try and break passwords for your web accounts.
Magic Password Generator uses a simple cryptographic hash function, which combines your master password and the domain name of the site to make another unique password for that site. The password is not saved in Firefox, or anywhere else. All you have to remember is your master password, it is not stored anywhere.
There are two other nice features that make logging in even easier. You can configure a username and/or an email address to fill in, at the same time that the password is filled in. For advanced users, with a catchall address at a domain, just put “@example.com” (whatever your domain is) for the address, and MPWGen will make a different email for every site.
After installing, you’ll find a new lock icon, labeled Magic Password on your toolbar. Or you can right-click in any password field then select the “Magic Password Generator” from the popup menu and type in your master password.
If you are at a public/shared computer that doesn’t have the Firefox extension, you will have to use Passwork Maker Bookmarklet or this site to do the same password magic.
You can download the latest version of Magic Password Generator from https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/874.

Might I also suggest a password manager? Online of course, so that you can access it anytime, anywhere.
The added benefit is that you can use it to store not just passwords, but any other code, number, key, note or even private links.
Mine is PassPack (I’m a co-founder). It’s free and online and will run on all major browsers:

There’s also a getting started guide on the blog:

At my opinion all Online Password Managers are just cracking tools.
Everybody accessed it will have all your passwords in hands.

@Alex,
Sorry you feel that way. Your last sentence was a bit garbled, so I don’t know *exactly* what you think will happen, but … I get the gist.
No one can read your PassPack account except you.

PassPack isn’t a cracking tool, it’s serious business.
