Interclue Firefox is a Firefox Extension that provides you with information about a link has been released by New Zealand software company Interclue Ltd. Interclue lets you access information quickly and easily, and make your browsing manageable and more efficient.
There are 3 types of clue:
- Linkclues - When you mouse over a link, a Linkclue cursor and icon will appear to let you know if the link opens in another window, an email address or javascript code. For more about the Linkclues, read the Linkclue Reference.
- Clueviews - Clueview is a sizable window that popups when you mouse over the icon. Clueview contained a set of common buttons along the top for quick access to common functions.
- Metaclues - Metaclues provide additional information about the linked content, such as its last modified date, word count, link count, and so on.

When you mouse over a link on a webpage, a small icon will appear at the end of the link, and if you hover over the icon, a Clueview window pops up and feeds you the relevant content of that link. Interclue also allows you to add the webpage to del.icio.us, bookmark the link and email the summarized content to your friends.

You can configure the Clueview buttons, Linkclue modes, and Metaclues such as show page date, page statistics and thumbnail images. You can also configure the hover time and fading time of the Clueview and Linkclue. Being able to configure the hover time and fading time make it less annoying. Other preview addon automatically open when you just pass your mouse over the link, or you need to click the ‘close’ button to close the preview window which I find very annoying.
Interclue really makes browsing efficient. I was using Cooliris until I discovered this one. I like Interclue Firefox, it gives me a small preview and text summary of the website behind a link and lets me decide whether to click it or not. If you use any preview addon, give this one a try, you will sure like it.
You can download the latest version of Interclue Firefox from the Interclue website or https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/4999. A tutorial page will be showed once you have Firefox restarted.
