Loading speed of open office has been a bottleneck among open office user which the open office application loading speed is extremely slow. if you doesn’t open openoffice quickstarter, this open office suite will even load slower.
However, Zolved has found a way to speed up open office by editing the memory setting on the openoffice which can speed up the open office loading time.
Step to speed up openoffice office suite loading speed:-
- Start Open Office and click on Tools > Options.
- Click on Memory in the left menu and change the following settings:
- Reduce the number of Undo steps to a figure lower than 100. Suggestion around 20 or 30 steps.
- Under Graphics cache, set Use for OpenOffice.org to 128 MB (up from the original 6MB).
- Set Memory per object to 20MB (up from the default .5MB).
- Set the number of objects under Cache for inserted objects at 20.
- Click on Java in the left menu afterwards and uncheck Use a Java Runtime Environment.
- Click OK and restart Open Office
After following this simple step. you will noticed the open office loading speed is totally difference from default openoffice loading setting.

Have you ever thought that might happen because windows (or whatever OS u’re running) caches load files from OO? Lol? I’ve seen that poor piece of advice on numerous websites/blogs you name it. To confirm my statement load open office with default settings, then make thos “tweaks” of yours, then reboot and load open office again. Oh my god… feeling owned?
