    yes, it does work, as long as you are on windows 2000 or xp. I just experienced it not to work on vista rc1. darn, I guess nothing of the same quality is available for free working on that os yet.

    I just downloaded it, activated it and ran a scan
    No viruses but it did find 2 pcs. of spyware that Adaware and SpyBot Search and Destroy missed and removed them
    I will use it
    It’s easy to configure and run

    i live in england and download this software it totally crashed my computer and couldnt get back online after contacting aol was rudely told it is for american aol only, but it does not say that on the site, took all day to rectify the problem thought i was going to have pay out more money to get computer sorted, i do not recommend this at all

    This may explain why so many people didn’t get their activation code. For me at least (if not most of the others), it wasn’t that I was blind or stupid, or had my head up my arse (refer to Dec 19 post by Mister Obvious).

    By the way, I ended up installing another free antivirus program because I was sick of waiting for the activation code. Couldn’t be bothered changing now.

    The problem you are having is that AOL are legendary for their incompetence.

    They will only send the activation code to “proper” email addresses. In the same way, AOL email can only be received from “proper” email addresses.

    No-one knows what quantifies a “proper” email address to AOL, only that they reject over 90% of them. That is why no-one uses AOL any more, and customers are fleeing them by the million.

    I am in the UK and this is the best Anti Virus I have seen and used. My activation code came through straight away on my AOL account and the same happened when I installed it on my laptop. Both PC’s are up to date and it updates daily. Well done AOL. You HAVE got something right :)

    in response to vishnu- AVS does work with WIN 2000 sp4 as I and several friends/relatives are running it just fine. If it will not run you may have something else going on preventing it from doing so.

    Only one time received activation code works for me; 2 months later i format to install fresh win98 and end up cannot activate my AVS!!!

    I did download new copy of AVS and received numerous of activation code to my yahoo mail, but none enable me to click the next button!!!

    hi guys. Could anyone help me from the message i get when installing Active virus shield?

    When i double click the AVS setup file, it comes out a message:
    Windows installer

    This installation package could not be
    opened. Contact the application vendor
    to verify that this is a valid windows
    installer package.

    So, it won’t let me install the softwware. I’m using genuine windows XP Pro service Pack 2. i try to install on others machine which using windows XP Home Service Pack2, same thing happen, can anyone help me, please email me at jamesbooi@hotmail.com, thank you very much

    Based on your message. Your current computer is using old version of windows installer package. You try to update your windows installer package on windows update.
