Drop.io - Private Online Storage and Sharing

logoDrop.io is a new service for simple and private online storage and sharing, currently in public beta. Drop.io allows users to store and share anything (pictures, video, audio, docs, etc) privately, without accounts, personal registration, or email addresses.

You can create as many as you want and set things like a password, whether visitors can add to the drop, and how long you want it to exist. Only people that know the URL of a drop can access it. You can set password to protect your files and also control how long your files are stored online.

With Drop.io, you can:

  • share videos & photos privately with friends, while preventing others from seeing them.
  • transfer files between locations and computers without bothering to log into multiple email clients.
  • quickly share documents for a project among a groups of co-workers, almost like mini ‘data-rooms’.
  • create places to send comments, photos, documents on the fly at a conference or meeting.
  • coordinate group trips by creating a quick space where everyone can put their contact info and giving easy access to access status updates and pictures in ‘real-time’.
  • keep a truly private journal and not have it on a computer hard drive or social network.

It is easy to create a drop, simply follow these 3 steps:

  1. Click the ‘Add Files’ button and select files you want to put in the Drop.
  2. Rename the drop (minimum 7 characters), set password, expiration date and choose whether other users can edit the page or just view it.
  3. Click the ‘Drop It’ button to upload all your files.

For more information on how to use Drop.io, visit the Tutorial page.

You can view a drop one of three ways: media view, chronological view, or interactive view. Media view shows your stuff grouped out by photos, notes, audio, video, docs, etc. Chronological view displays your drop as a mini/lightweight blog. Interactive view displays all your media and scroll through it item by item.

Probably one of the best upload sites on the net, IMHO. Very, i mean very, intuitive, dumbproof interface.
