Previously i have write Koobox Mini Linux Computer post before, which the Koobox mini linux computer is actually powered by FreeSpire linux operating system. This Freespire is quite popular on the long list of software and drivers that are available for download at no cost.
Why Freespire so great:
- Freedom of choice, with a mix of FOSS (free open source software) and 3rd-part, legally licensed, proprietary software.
- Multimedia support of MP3, Windows Media, QuickTime, Real, Java, Flash, etc. You should be able to use all of these files, right out of the box,
without doing anything: http://linspire.com/filetypes - Plug-N-Play hardware support from nVidia, ATI, Intel, and many others, right out of the box, without installing anything.

Freepsire Core OS will be available on two versions:
- Freespire - This is the regular, complete version, comprised largely of open source software, but which also includes proprietary codecs, drivers and applications for an enhanced, “out-of-the-box” user experience. (Visit the Summary of Proprietary Components page for a detailed list of the licensed software used in this version.)
- Freespire OSS Edition – This version removes any software that isn’t licensed as open source. This version will have limited functionality, as it will not, out-of-the box, support MP3, Real, Java, Flash, QuickTime, Windows Media, ATI drivers, nVidia drivers, etc.

Updates: FreeSpire linux operating system development has been discontinued.
