ADVERTISEMENTS
Clipperz is a online password manager that contains a JavaScript library to provide web developers with an extensive and efficient set of cryptographic functions. It is released under a BSD license.
“Clipperz exploits the capabilities of modern browsers to efficiently execute Javascript code. All your private information are locally encrypted before storing them on Clipperz servers. So you don’t need to trust Clipperz because you are just giving Clipperz a bunch of scrambled and twisted bits.”

With Clipperz, you can:
- Store and manage your passwords and online credentials.
- Log in to your web services without entering any username or password.
- Protect any other sensitive textual information such as confidential notes, codes for burglar alarms, software serial numbers, PINs and credit card details
- Share secrets with family members and associates.(Coming soon)
Clipperz is also a private card index that you can use to enter any sort of confidential data without worrying about security. Clipperz hosts your encrypted cards and provide you with a nice interface to manage your data. You can store whatever information you want: site passwords, credit card numbers, alarm codes, etc.

Clipperz allows you to access your data even if you are offline, you can dump all your encrypted data from Clipperz servers to your hard disk and create a read-only version of Clipperz to be used when there is no Internet connection. The read-only version is as secure as the read-and-write one and will not expose your data to higher risks since they both share the same code and security architecture.
Clipperz is a cryptographic system with a 128-bit security level. According to Clipperz, the 128-bit security level will be sufficient against brute-force attacks into the foreseeable future. They also claim that their site is safe because the information is encrypted by the browser before it is ever sent up to the Clipperz servers.
So what do you think? Do you dare to submit your confidential information into your browser? There are many security concern about having some stranger manage your sensible data. But this data is FULLY ENCRYPTED when you upload it… it’s just a bunch of scrambled bits to anyone who tries to steal it. Even if they were “hacked” they wouldn’t get the unencrypted information. For me, i think that keeping my passwords online is more secure than in somewhere else.
Cripperz is a very interesting application. Visit http://www.clipperz.com to try it out.

Naomi,
thanks very much for your nice review.
I would only like to add a single point to your otherwise very complete review: beside the Clipperz Crypto Library (released under a BSD licence), the full code of the application is available for inspection under a reference licence (http://www.clipperz.com/learn_more/reviewing_the_code).
Anybody interested in learning more about the technical details of our application is welcome to join our discussion group: http://groups.google.com/group/clipperz.
