Ceedo Personal 2.0 – Carry your working environment with you on any portable storage device

Ceedo logoCeedo Personal 2.0 is an another mobile launcher that allow you takes your non-portable applications and allows them to run off on external storage ( like a virtual mobile PC ). An installation Ceedo on storage devices will bring your a portable working environment for you to work with, anytime, anywhere.

Currently Ceedo is under Version 2 and this version include a host of new and exciting features, including support for add-ons such as InstallAnything(TM) that greatly extend Ceedo’s features and capabilities.

The capability of Ceedo is great which allows you loading a bigger range of application onto the storage drive compare to other similar product on the market. meanwhile, the program like Firefox, MS Word, Excel, Outlook and IE can all be placed onto Ceedo and all application can be customize and set based your preferable setting. You can loaded as many as application based on your external storage capacity since the Ceedo application files size is small ( around 2mb only ).

Requirement to run Ceedo is very easy to fulfill. Ceedo application need to run on USD interface ( Ceedo recommend use USB 2.0 for better performance ) and 5MB of disk space must be available on the removable storage. On the host pc, Minimum Pentium 2 350Mhz and Windows 2000 or greater is required.

Installing Ceedo application is totally painless and easy. Just download the ceedo and install it on your removable storage devices. When you finish the ceedo installation, you will see an welcome screen, and the Easy-Access Menu like below:-

Ceedo also display used Space Meter to indicated how much storage space is currently used on your removable drive. i also included some ceedo configurtion screenshot for preview.

i believe that Ceedo is an programs that has potential and need to watch out in future. Since the application can give me an secure and protected environment to do my task when plug on other PC host. It is worth for try out before you purchase the Ceedo application ( If useful).

    After 3 days of trial, i found it wasn’t that great.
    1. It is very slow in loading, copy paste, compress, delete. internet explorer, browse, download.
    2. Ceedo is incompatible with RC1.
    3. One more thing that i’ve notice is the Firefox setting in my Ceedo flash drive is same with my Host PC. Once i change my Ceedo’s Firefox setting, it changed my Host PC settings also.
    4. Lifespan for USB flash drive will be shorten because of frequent read/write cycles. Everytime runs installed programs directly from the USB flash device, increase the read/write activity taking place on the flash drive.

    Pro: Ceedo is visually very attractive.

    Contra: The worst thing is that I could not find a proper crack for Addon InstallAnything ;-)

    Only with this Addon it is really somethnig different, since you do not need to find so called “portable” versions of applications. This Addon can make it from many ordinary exe setup files.

    — Certain other actions will be slower than cheaper solutions like U3 because Ceedo does not install apps to the PC and run them from there. Instead, it runs entirely off the usb device.

    2. Ceedo is incompatible with RC1.
    — Ceedo is fine on Vista.

    — If you were already running a copy of Firefox from the host PC, Firefox would ignore you when you tried to start another copy of firefox from your USB. Instead, you were actually using the same Firefox that was on your PC, and you only thought you were using Ceedo’s Firefox (Did you notice there was no orange border on FFox?).  Now, Ceedo displays a warning message.

    4. Lifespan for USB flash drive will be shorten because of frequent read/write cycles. Everytime runs installed programs directly from the USB flash device, increase the read/write activity taking place on the flash drive.
    — Again, because it actually runs on the USB device. This is for security. with some similar products, it copies your app to the PC, then runs it there. Problem with that is that it leaves temporary files all over that PC, especially if USB is disconnected too soon. That means your browsing cache and all sorts of other traces.

    I use Ceedo on a 250GB USB Seegate USB Drive (FreeAgent Go) and love it.
