Opera 9.1 Browser Adds Fraud Protection Feature (Phishing Filter)

Both Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft Internet Explorer provide phishing filters in their latest releases. Now it’s Opera’s turn to release Opera 9.1 with fraud protection measures.

“Opera Software today released an update to its popular, eponymous, freely-available web browser. Opera 9.1 adds a phishing filter, an improved ad blocker, and a built-in BitTorrent link for speedier downloads, according to the company.”

Opera’s advanced fraud protection protects you against web sites that try to steal your personal information. With Opera Fraud Protection enabled, every Web page you request is subjected to a phishing filter, and the status of the page is displayed as an icon on the right side of the address field.

The Opera browser will makes contact with the fraud protection server every time you request a Web page. HTTPS sites are checked via an encrypted channel. The server checks the domain name of the requested page against live whitelists compiled by GeoTrust, and blacklists compiled by GeoTrust and Phishtank. Opera’s fraud protection server downloads blacklists directly from Phishtank, and sends a query to GeoTrust.

By default, Opera Fraud protection is disabled. Opera Fraud Protection can be enabled/disabled from Tools > Preferences > Advanced > Security by checking/unchecking the box marked “Enable Fraud Protection.”

Opera Launches Opera Mini 3.0 for Mobile

Opera has launches the final version of Opera Mini 3.0 few days ago. Opera has always been my favorite web browsers on mobile devices because the browser performance is fast, light on resources and does the job well.

Here is the new features in Opera Mini 3.0 include:

Easy photo sharing
RSS Feed Reader
Secure banking/shopping
Content folding
Faster surfing

For me, Opera Mini 3.0 is a nice and free web browser for mobile devices since it can display the web pages like desktop browser. But the opera mini still got limitation whereby it’s a java based web browser and you can’t set opera mini as default browser on mobile devices.
Opera Mini does have some limitations, since it’s a Java based web browser. You can’t set it as your default browser, and you can’t copy and paste from within the browser to other applications. But you can’t argue with the price: free.

Opera 9 finally released

Finally Opera 9 has been release and open up for you to download. The features of opera 9 still remain the same like the previous post i write about opera 9 beta version. The best part is the widget where consume a little memory only.

But i seldom using opera browser since there is less support on Google services to make their services Opera compliant. However, using Opera 9 for some things because iit is remain powerful browser and some of the features you can’t find on othere browser.

Opera Mini Browser 2.0

Opera Company recently just launches opera browser 9.0. but now, Opera released a mobile browser call ” Opera Mini 2.0“. Opera’s mini browser is using Small Screen Rendering – technology to provide access to the Web. It has all the features expected of a browser, and more, such as bookmarks, browsing history, and ability to split large pages into smaller sections for faster browsing.

Here is summaries of features on Opera Mini 2.0 :-

skips the initial text message requirement which straight pointing the mobile user to content services provider.
download files such as MP3s and images to their phones.
speed-dial bookmark capability that allows users to assign two-key codes that will open up a Web page
quick horizontal and vertical panning when browsing backwards or forwards
change browser’s visual skin.
