The Disney feature, called Disney Xtreme Digital, or Disney XD, is aimed at kids younger than 14, with parents getting control over Internet activities, Paul Yanover, executive vice president and managing director of Disney Online, said in an interview.

Inside Disney Xtreme Digital, kids can chat while watching video clips, listening to music and playing video games, all at the same time. Parents, meanwhile, can control their kids’ use of the site. The company also will offer a broadband tool, dubbed Disney Xtreme Digital, which will allow users to create customized profile pages and share them with others.

The chat feature requires parental approval for kids to go beyond trading canned messages designed to prevent users from revealing personal information, or from using profanity.

Kids can participate in Disney Xtreme Digital’s activities and earn points. The Points can be used to purchase items such as virtual stickers or Rube Goldberg-type machines like bubble makers for their pages.
