Android, Google’s mobile platform that truly open and comprehensive platform for mobile devices. Android is based on the Linux Kernel and has some interesting particularities. “Android does not differentiate between the phone’s core applications and third-party applications. They can all be built to have equal access to a phone’s capabilities providing users with a broad spectrum of applications and services.
Meanwhile, The Android mobile platform SDK is available to the developers now . Which you can download the SDK and start to develop great applications in Java. This Android SDK will allow you to develop Android applications that you can run, test, profile, and debug using the emulator and the other included tools. Note that the look and feel of the user interface in the emulator is a placeholder for a final version that is under development.

The Android team over at Google also posted a demonstration video of what the new platform is capable of. This Android demo shows how Google Maps and a 3D game like Quake running on Android platform. Beside that,to improve Andriod popularity and usage. Google has launched a competition that offers $10 million awards for the most interesting applications.
Overall, The existence of Android Open mobile platform has created a great treat to Windows mobile platform and mobile user will be benefit with more optional mobile platform and open source mobile application in future.

I hope it has decent polygon power, there are powerful phones coming out soon and my g1 will be out of date quick smart. thx
